Hexagon Purus, part of the Hexagon Group, has announced a new manufacturing facility for hydrogen storage systems in Kelowna, scheduled to be completed summer 2022.

In a world that is becoming ever more committed to combatting climate change, the demand for zero-emission transportation is on the rise. Hexagon Purus, a world leading provider of zero emission electric drivetrain solutions for commercial vehicles, announced that it will start construction of a new manufacturing facility for battery packs and hydrogen storage systems here in Kelowna. This amazing project is not only going to help the city’s emission rates, it is expected to bring more than 100 new skilled jobs.

Last July, McKay Property Group broke ground on the project, which will allow for a 60,000 SF, highly automated facility where production of battery packs and hydrogen fuel storage systems  will be housed. The site will also provide engineering, research and development for Hexagon Purus and other companies within the Hexagon Group. Steve McKay, CEO of McKay Property group expressed his excitement about this project, and welcomed the prospect of a future-oriented and environmentally conscious company like Hexagon Purus to expand to our beautiful city.

Brad Sieben, Kelowna City Councilor, stated “The City of Kelowna is excited and welcomes this promising project, generating new job opportunities whilst helping our city to develop and move forward towards a greener future through innovation.”
